Mrs. Sharon Queen Abernathy, age 67, of Aragon, GA passed away Monday, April 21, 2014 at her residence.
Sharon was born in Rockmart, GA on May 7, 1946 a daughter of the late Howard Queen and Thelma Horsley Queen. She had lived all of her life in the Rockmart-Aragon area where she was a member of the Morning View Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Floyd Junior College (now Georgia Highlands College) school of nursing where she received her registered nursing degree. Sharon had worked for Cartersville Medical Center and Polk Medical Center. She loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed collecting antiques.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Abernathy of Aragon to whom she was married on February 12, 1977; two sons: Todd Queen and wife Joy, Aragon and Quint Abernathy, Aragon; two daughters: Karisa Goss Waits and husband Joey, Aragon and Shalon Wilson and husband Lee, Rockmart; five grandchildren: Ridge Abernathy, Jace Abernathy, Kade Wilson, Luke Queen and Jude Wilson; one sister, Marsha Campbell, Rockmart; one brother, Jay Howard Queen, Rockmart; nephew, Trace Campbell and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Hulsey officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include: Todd Queen, Quint Abernathy, Joey Waits, Lee Wilson, Drew Fuqua, Trace Campbell and Ridge Abernathy. Honorary pallbearers will include: Jace Abernathy, Luke Queen, Royce Coker and Jude Wilson.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
