Ms. Shelby Jean Forrister, age 75, of Rockmart, GA passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014 in a Rome medical center.
She was born in Cedartown, GA on June 13, 1939, a daughter of the late Lonzo Adkins and Ester Finley Adkins. She had been a resident of Polk County most of her life where she was a member of the Aragon Church of Christ. Ms. Forrister was known for her love of family, cooking, flowers and her dog "Baby". In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters: Barbara Harpe and Sandy Forrister; one son, Kenneth Forrister; a granddaughter, Megan Causey, and a brother, Euzeal Adkins.
Survivors include her daughter, Jeannie Graham and husband David of Cedartown; eight grandchildren: Paula Morales, Michael Graham, Jeremy Morales, Chris Graham, Chad Hulsey, Jenilee Woody, Caleb Graham and Michael Kay; seventeen great grandchildren; two brothers: Alton Adkins of Rockmart, and A. D. Adkins of Kingston; one sister, Betty Lindsey of Rockmart; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 18, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Minister Robert Ware officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will include: Michael Graham, Chris Graham, Caleb Graham, Jeremy Morales, Charlie Woody, and Rocky Forrister. Austin Graham will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, July 17 from 6:00 until 9:00 PM at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
