Shirley Ann Waits

Mrs. Shirley Ann Waits, age 73, of Wheeler Road Rockmart passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at her residence following an extended illness.


A native of Polk County, she was born on March 4, 1938 a daughter of the late Decatur Twilly Waters and Lillie Mae Mabry Waters. Mrs. Waits had lived all of her life in the Rockmart area where she was a member of the VanWert Baptist Church. She was a former employee of Polk Medical Center for fourteen years. Mrs. Waits was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Hansel Eugene ?PeeWee? Waits on May 4, 2011; by three children: Angelia, Melanie and baby boy Waits; by two sisters: Margaret Barber and Sara Gray and by seven brothers: Emmett, Paul, McKinley, Jack, Jim, Charles and Junior Waters.


Mrs. Waits is survived by three children: Randy Waits and wife Shawn, Rockmart, Stevie Waits and wife Angie, Rockmart and Cindy Woodward and husband Wayne, Rockmart; one sister, Katie Mae Waits, Rockmart; four grandchildren; two step grandchildren and two great grandchildren.


Funeral services will be held Friday, December 2, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Hoyt Lewis and Rev. Eddy Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.


Pallbearers will include: Bubba Hulsey, Adam Cox, Brad Barber, Tony Waits, Tim Waits, Dewayne Waters, John Allen Waits and Eddie Waters. Honorary pallbearers will include: Charles Hilliard, Wendell Waits, Revis Waits, James Waits, J.R. Waits, Raymond Barber and Ray Barber.


The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
