Shirley Mae Mcelroy

Mrs. Shirley Mae McElroy, age 68, of 85 McDowell Road, Rockmart passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011 following a six month illness.


She was born in Paulding County, GA on September 18, 1942, daughter of the late Joseph Leonard Hulsey, Sr. and the late Geraldine Spears Hulsey. Mrs. McElroy had lived the greater part of her life in Polk County where she was a graduate of Rockmart High School. She was a former employee of Dallas Yarn Mill. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers: Joe Hulsey, Harry Hulsey and Hootie Hulsey.


Survivors include four sons: Danny Wayne Meeks, Rockmart, William David Meeks, Temple, Darrion Dawyne Meeks, Rockmart and Dennis James Meeks, Rockmart; five grandchildren also survive.


Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Yorkville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Brad Hulsey, Frankie Hulsey, Kevin Sweat, Lee Hulsey, Louis Brown and Curtis Milner.


The family will receive friends Saturday from 12 Noon until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
