Sidney Elton Wilson

Mr. Sidney Elton Wilson, age 65, of 543 Pine Mountain Road Rockmart, GA passed away Sunday, September 19, 2010 at his residence following a brief illness.


He was born in Joiner, Arkansas on April 26, 1945 a son of Sidney Albert Wilson and Leila Riding Wilson. Mr. Wilson moved to Polk County from California in 1990. He was a member of the Springdale Baptist Church. Prior to ill health he worked in road construction as an asphalt paver. Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his father, Sidney Albert Wilson, mother, Leila Abercrombie, step father, William Joe Abercrombie, two brothers: Donald Ray Wilson and Baby Ray Wilson.


Survivors include his former wife, Linda Wilson, Rockmart; six daughters: Melissa Smith, Junction City, Kansas, Cynthia Lee, Rockmart, Sharon Wilson, Rockmart, Patricia Reeves, Rockmart, Sabrina Kidd, Huffman, Texas and Amber Wilson, Redding, California; five sisters: Bernice Scott, Winston, GA, Marilyn Scott, Winston, GA, Bobbie Jo Price, Winston, GA, Mae Scott, Moreland, GA and Diane Kidd, Huffman, Texas; 19 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren also survive.


Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby McDowell and Pastor Jamie Harrell officiating. Mrs. Cynthia Lee will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Springdale Baptist Church Cemetery.


Pallbearers will include: Glenn Lee, Jamie Harrell, Tommy McGuire, Justin Wilson, Blake McGuire and Nick Carter. Honorary pallbearers will include: Isaiah J.L. Wilson, Drew Westbrook and Bradley Lopez.


The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at the funeral home.


In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial gifts be made to the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
