Sonny Ray Deems

Mr. Sonny Ray ?Strawberry? Deems, age 49, of 314 Hogue Ave., Rockmart passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2009.


He was born in Rockmart, GA on May 24, 1960 a son of Ralph Deems and Clara Mae Ely Deems. Mr. Deems had lived all of his life in the Rockmart-Aragon area and was a member of the Light House Church located on the Morgan Valley Road. He was a former employee of the Lindale Mill and World Carpet of Cartersville. Mr. Deems had also worked in construction as a carpenter and painter.


He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Clara Mae Deems, Cedartown; father, Mr. Ralph Deems, Rockmart; four sisters: Judy Sisson, Rome, Patricia Burnley, Aragon, Angie Chapman, Rome and Betty Brinkley, Rockmart; five brothers: Jerry Deems, Aragon, Tommy Deems, Cedartown, Billy Deems, Aragon, Paul Deems, Sr., Rockmart and Tony Deems, Rockmart; two half sisters: Ashley Deems and Hope Deems both of Aragon; and three half brothers: Justin Deems and Jason Deems both of Rockmart and Travis Deems of Aragon.


Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 16, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Patnode and Evangelist Paul Deems and Evangelist Jerry Deems officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Tony Dawson, Mark Deems, B.J. Deems, Brandon Deems, Jim Waddell, Wes Baldwin, Justin Deems, Alan Wisener, Bobby Roberson and Ricky Baines.


The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
