Mr. Jerry Steven Coker of Rockmart, GA, passed away on February 28, 2025, at the age of 63.
Stevie was born on August 18, 1961, and was the son of the late Jerry W. Coker and Peggy Jean Poole Coker and the sibling of Charlie and Diedra, his stepmother, Patricia Baines Coker and step-brothers Gene And Jerry. His Aunt Gail Coker was special to him. She never missed a Birthday or Christmas present. Aunt Gail carried him to singings which grew his love for Gospel Music.
Stevie attended school in Aragon before transferring to Rockmart. Mr. Jenkins was his all-time favorite teacher.
Stevie was beloved by all who knew him. His kind spirit and love for people made that easy. To know him was to love him. Stevie understood what a Blessing having family and friends near meant. He was a prayer warrior and knew how to intercede for them in prayer. He loved his God, his church, his family, and his friends.
In 2010 Stevie moved in with Mark And Donna Garrett. Stevie was welcomed in and began being a contributing member of the family. He did his chores and helped in every aspect of their lives. He loved Zach and Karyl and Joey and Elyse and was overjoyed with the addition of Bella, Porter, Zoella, Rosalie and Scarlett, all five loved him.
He enjoyed his time at Buy Low, helping out around the store and also Rockmart High School sports, especially Friday night football games at The Rock. When the team was away he spent many long nights with his good friend and DJ, Brian McDowell at the Studio. Stevie's love for Church and singing was his greatest love and riding to Heirborn singings were the highlight of his week. It was truly one of his greatest joys and the time with Mark Lumpkin, Greg Gober, Chris Barker and Michael Keener and all of the past members of the group always made Stevie happy. Stevie also liked good preaching and going to church. He loved attending Crossview with Pastor Danny, Antioch with Pastor Michael Jack, Emmanuel with Pastor Corey, and Morning View with Pastor Jeff anytime he could and was well-known by many of them throughout the community. Stevie was blessed in his younger life by Seney Baptist and New Hope Baptist.
