Thomas Edward "Tommy" Cook

Mr. Thomas Edward “Tommy” Cook, age 84, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Thursday evening, July 11, 2024, at his residence.

Tommy was born in Cincinnati, OH, on January 8, 1940, son of the late Eugene John Cook and Angela Myers Cook. He had lived his childhood years in Miami, FL, prior to joining the United States Coast Guard. He later transferred to the United States Navy where he served for 9 years. Tommy had been a resident of Georgia since 1972 and was of the Baptist faith. He was a self-employed carpet layer and enjoyed going camping and fishing. Tommy loved the ocean and going for his daily walks through the neighborhood where everyone knew him as “the Mayor of Ruff Road”, because he never met a stranger.

Tommy is survived by his wife, Joan Kathryn Deloach Cook, whom he married February 9, 1972; son, David (Leeann) Bowman, daughter, Karen (Ronnie) Appleby, son, Shawn Cook; six grandchildren, TJ Appleby, Angela (Thomas) Blankinship, Taylor Bowman, Madison (Danny) Spencer, Chandler Cook, and Jake Bowman. Seven great-grandchildren and a sister, Jeannett (Tom) Petrosky, also survive.

In keeping with his wishes, Tommy will be cremated, and no formal services are planned at this time.
