Mrs. Viola G. Williams, age 93, of Rockmart, GA passed away Monday, January 9, 2017 in a Rome medical center.
She was born in Haralson County, GA on March 31, 1923 a daughter of John William Garner and Nancy Pearly Whitman Garner. Mrs. Williams had lived most of her life in Rockmart where she was a member of the Second Baptist Church. She had been a member of the Rebekah Lodge # 28, having served as Past Noble Grand and also served as a Past District Deputy President. She and her late husband Clyde owned and operated Williams Grocery Store for many years.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde James Williams on May 8, 1975; by an infant daughter, Gilda Gale Williams in 1952; by a granddaughter, JaMesa Leigh Jacobs in 1993; by a brother, Henry Lee Garner and by two sisters: Ethel Chupp and Ruby Everidge.
Survivors include two daughters: Wonda Redden and her husband Junior of Rockmart and Denise Williams also of Rockmart; sister, Beulah Forsyth, Cumming; four grandchildren: Wesley Jacobs, Clyde Redden, Kevin Redden and Josh Winters; two step grandchildren: Shelly Redden Ayer and Timmy Redden; eleven great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 11:00 am in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. David Warriner officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include: Ron Campbell, Bobby Hitchcock, Ronnie Hicks, Harold McDurmon, Jerry McDurmon, and John Purser.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 pm at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
