Viola Sue Coker

Mrs. Viola Sue Coker, age 80, of Rockmart, GA passed away Monday June 9, 2014 in a Rome medical center.

She was born in Rockmart, GA on September 29, 1933, a daughter of the late James Russell Sorrells and Myrtice Stringer Sorrells. Mrs. Coker had lived all of her life in Polk County where she was a member of Gordon Hill Baptist Church and was a retired employee of the Patat Plywood Corporation. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Rev. William O. Reese on October 10, 1983 and by two sisters and five brothers.

Survivors include her husband, Royce Coker of Rockmart, to whom she was married on May 22, 1995; her sister, Antemarh Sorrells Abernathy of Aragon and fifteen nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Hulsey officiating. Interment will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Larry Abernathy, Quint Abernathy, Jace Abernathy, Ridge Abernathy, Lee Wilson and Drew Fuqua.

The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
