Mrs. Violet Etoy McGoon, age 89, of 528 Hunter Street, Rockmart passed away Thursday, January 10, 2008 in a Rome Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Bartow County, GA on September 9, 1918 a daughter of the late James Houston Ward and Samantha Matilda Folds Ward. Mrs. McGoon had spent the greater part of her life in Polk County where she was a member of the Rockmart Church of God and a retired employee of the Aragon Mill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Lynn Gordon McGoon; by three brothers, two sisters and a granddaughter.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Carole Hutcheson, Acworth,; a step daughter, Mrs. Sandra Woods, Cedartown; a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Owens, Cedartown; one grandson, one great granddaughter; one great great granddaughter; two step grandsons; two step great grandsons and one step great granddaughter.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 13th. at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Delton Harne officiating. Interment followed in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers included: Robert Hutcheson, Jr., Keith Owens, Lamar Owens, Michael Woods, Jason Stroup and Douglas Edwards.
The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mrs. Violet Etoy McGoon.
