Virginia Elaine Stringer

Mrs. Virginia Elaine Stringer, age 79, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Wednesday morning, October 11, 2023.

Mrs. Stringer was born in Pavo, GA, on March 10, 1944, daughter of the late Melvin Otis Glass and Ruth Jeanette Glass. She had lived the greater part of her life in Cartersville, GA, and was of the Pentecostal faith. Mrs. Stringer retired from World Carpet, then worked for a period of time at Ingles Deli. She loved to read, enjoyed sewing and cherished spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stringer was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Matthew Marion Stringer, Sr., three children, John Otis Stringer, Brian Stringer, and Clinton Stringer. Several brothers and sisters also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Stringer is survived by three children, James Kenneth Stringer of Rockmart, Matthew Marion Stringer, Jr. (Christina) of Cartersville, and Jason Stringer (Melissa) of Cartersville; grandchildren, Dustin Stringer, Jena Stringer, Kayla Stringer, Tyler Lee Stringer, Samantha Stringer and Joshua Lee Stringer. Four great-grandchildren along with several brothers and sisters also survive.

Graveside and interment services for Mrs. Stringer will be Friday afternoon, October 13, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Sardis Cemetery with Rev. Owen (Bud) Davis, Jr. officiating.

Pallbearers will include Tyler Stringer, Joshua Stringer,Dustin Stringer, Camron Bowles, RoyLee Newberry, and Eric Evans.

Mrs. Stringer’s family will receive friends Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
