Virginia Ellen Alsbrook

Mrs. Virginia Ellen Alsbrook, age 79, of Rockmart, GA passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at her residence.

She was born in Taylorsville, GA on May 10, 1939, a daughter of the late Effie Mae Waits. Mrs. Alsbrook lived the greater part of her life in the Aragon and Rockmart area where she was a member of the Lake View Baptist Church. She had a great love for her family and enjoyed cooking and listening to Gospel music. In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lee Alsbrook; brother, Hansel (PeeWee) Waits; and sisters: Mary Jo Spencer and Shirley Faye Hannah.

Survivors include her daughter, Tera Collier and her husband Mark, Rockmart; son, Sotty Alsbrook, Cedartown; step-son, Ral Alsbrook and his wife Kim, North Carolina; two grandsons: Glavin Collier and Nate Collier; three step-grandchildren: Jermiah Alsbrook, Jordan Alsbrook and Elizabeth Alsbrook; brother, Jackie Raven (J.R.) Waits, Cedartown; many nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 8, 2019 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Eddy Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in the Floyd Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Stevie Waits, Tony Waits, Jimmy Spencer, Wayne Woodward, Glavin Collier and Nate Collier. Randy Waits will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, March 7th from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
