Virginia Lynn Maxwell

Mrs. Virginia Lynn Maxwell, age 77, of Taylorsville, GA passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2020.

Mrs. Maxwell was born in Booneville, MS on May 21, 1943, a daughter of the late George Dillon and the late Wilma Buyde Dillon. Born in Mississippi, Lynn spent her childhood there before moving to Georgia to teach in the early 1960's. She was a graduate of Mississippi State University where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Education. She went on to earn her Master's Degree from Kennesaw State University. Lynn loved to garden, enjoyed sewing, knitting, painting, and traveling. She was a member of the Rockmart Church of Christ and was retired from Bartow County School District after many years of teaching.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Maxwell was preceded in death by her husband, James Noble Maxwell, Jr. on June 23, 2010; and her brother, Larry Dillon.

Survivors include her two sons: James "Jamie" Maxwell, III, Rome, GA and Author, Jonathan Maxwell, Taylorsville, GA; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside funeral and interment services will be held Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the Taylorsville Cemetery with Steve Miller officiating.

Pallbearers will include: James Maxwell, Jonathan Maxwell, Danny Roberson, Lee Maxwell, Max Corbin, and Ryan Ramsey. Elders and Deacons of Rockmart Church of Christ will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Social distancing guidelines will be followed and masks are recommended.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements for Mrs. Virginia Lynn Maxwell.
