Vivian Garner Smith

Mrs. Vivian Garner Smith, age 99, of Rockmart, GA passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013 in a Rome medical center.

She was born in Hall County, GA on November 22, 1913 a daughter of the late William Larkin Garner and Katie Harrington Garner. Mrs. Smith had been a resident of Rockmart most of her life where she was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church and a retired employee of the Goodyear Mill with 25 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. George H. Smith on January 9, 2001; by a sister, Geneva Jackson and a brother, Boyd Garner.

Survivors include two daughters: Joan Forrister, Rockmart and Faye Williams and her husband Larry, Rockmart; four grandchildren: Tara Frasier, Josh Williams, Kelley Norris and Marty Wilson; six great grandchildren and a cousin, Roy Moore.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 17, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Tony Weaver and Reverend Gerald Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery with Reverend Calvin Brown officiating.

Pallbearers will include Luke Camp, Bryce Wilson, Todd Wilson, Josh Williams, Larry Williams and Charles Pinkard.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
