Mr. Watson Carter, age 88, of Cedartown, GA passed away Friday, March 15, 2013 at his residence following several months of declining health.
He was born in Polk County on December 28, 1924 a son of the late Jack Carter and Victoria Denton Carter. Mr. Carter had lived the greater part of his life in Cedartown where he was a member of the Cedartown Church of Christ. He retired in 1990 from General Electric. Mr. Carter loved to farm with his mules , attend mule shows and sales and take trips to the Amish country. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Carter on July 11, 2008 ; by a grandson, Brian Mathis on September 15, 2012 and by nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his three children: Yvonne Mathis and her husband Ricky; Greg Carter and his wife Terri and Randall Carter and his wife Gayle all of Cedartown; six grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cedartown Church of Christ with Minister Doug Sims officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will include: Benjamin Mathis, Jeff Tumlin, Vacel Carter and Kie Carter.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cedartown Church of Christ, 326 East Avenue Cedartown.
The Alvis Miller & Son Funeal Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mr. Watson Carter.
