Wayne "Smiley" Clemons

Mr. Wayne "Smiley" Clemons, age 65, of Rockmart, GA passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2019.

He was born in Rockmart, GA on September 15, 1954, a son of James W. Clemons and Dora Sims Clemons. Smiley lived all of his life in Rockmart where he was very active throughout the years in youth sports. He was an active member of the Rockmart Little League Baseball program for thirty plus years as well as the youth football program. Smiley coached both of his sons as they grew up and also coached his grandsons. He loved to hunt, fish, and ride his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. Work and coaching was his passion and he always loved to make people smile with his humorous jokes. Smiley retired from Georgia Power after forty plus years of service.

He was preceded in death by his father, James W. Clemons; and sister-in-laws: Sheila Clemons and Ann Clemons.

Survivors include his two sons: Jeremy Clemons (Jenna) and Justin Clemons (Rhonda), both of Rockmart; his mother, Dora Clemons; three brothers: Donnie Clemons (Pat), Charlotte, NC, David Clemons, Cumming and Kenny Clemons (Debbie), Panama City, FL; five grandchildren: Nolan and Sawyer Clemons, Brady Turner, Kinsey and Tyler Jones and one granddaughter due in March 2020 along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 27, 2019 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Shane Petty and Rev. Gary Ingram officiating.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Rockmart Little League in memory of Mr. Clemons.
