William (Bill) Miller

Mr. William (Bill) Miller, age 93, of Rockmart, GA passed away Friday, August 29, 2014 at his residence.

He was born on May 31, 1921a son of the late Grover Cleveland Miller and Inez Hodges Miller. Mr. Miller had lived the greater part of his life in Rockmart where he was a graduate of Rockmart High School. He then attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College before entering the U. S. Army. Mr. Miller was a veteran of World War II. He grew up on the family farm, worked for Lockheed Aircraft Corporation and retired from the Rockmart-Aragon Hospital where he was maintenance supervisor for many years. Mr. Miller was a member of the Rockmart First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by two granddaughters: Jill and Joy Miller , by a grandson, Michael Miller; by two brothers: G. C. Miller and Hodges Miller; and by a sister, Rhoda Mae Craighead.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Edna Coalson Miller of Rockmart to whom he was married on March 24, 1943; three children: Carol Gramling and husband Benton, McDonough, GA, Freddy Miller and wife Ann, Rockmart and Tommy Miller and wife Mary Lee, Rockmart; one brother, Thomas Edga Miller of KY; five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 31, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Rockmart with Dr. Greg Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include: Steve Gramling, Chase Gramling, Ty Gramling, Terry Miller, Mike Adkins and Dave Turner.

The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral hour in the great room of the First Baptist Church.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mr. William (Bill) Miller.
