William C. (Bill) Thornton

Mr. William C. (Bill) Thornton, age 83,of Rockmart, GA passed away Monday. August 31, 2015 at his residence.

He was born on December 13, 1931 the only son of the late Grady and Elmina Thornton. He had been a resident of Rockmart since 1957 moving here from Haralson County. Mr. Thornton was of the Baptist faith. He retired following a 34 year career with Southern Bell. Mr. Thornton was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Ezzell Thornton on July 8, 2001.

Survivors include a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside funeral and interment services will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. Calvin Brown officiating. The Honor Guard of Brown-Wright Post 12 of the American Legion will provide military honors.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mr. William C. (Bill) Thornton.
