William Junior Truett

December 2, 1933 — July 20, 2011

Mr. William Junior Truett, age 77, of Big Pond Road, Taylorsville, GA passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at his residence following a lengthy illness.


He was born in Cleburne County, Alabama on December 2, 1933, a son of the late William Marshall Truett and the late Emily Brown Truett. Mr. Truett had lived most of his life in Bartow County and was of the Baptist Faith. He enjoyed doing mechanic work and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Truett was a former employee of Shaw Industries of Cartersville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita (Shorty) Jones Truett on May 10, 2002 and by a sister Frances Erwin.


Survivors include five daughters: Tammy Haygood and her husband Larry, Taylorsville, Tina Walker, Ft. Mill, S.C., Sherry Scott, Taylorsville, Patsy Harris, Taylorsville and Linda Alexander, Kingston; three sons: Bobby Truett and his wife Shelba, Taylorsville, Michael Cantrell, Euharlee and Billy Cantrell, Cedartown; nineteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one brother, B.J. Truett, Cedartown; three sisters: Beatrice Cheatwood, Buchanan, Jean Rogers, Cedartown and Mary Roberts, Yorkville.


Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. David (Doc) Hatfield, Rev. Michael Cantrell and Rev. Alan Jarmon officiating. Interment will follow in the Anderson-Reeves Cemetery.


Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.


The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.


The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mr. William Junior Truett.
