Mr. William Monroe (Billy) Robinson, age 87, of Rockmart, GA passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020.
Mr. Robinson was born in Rockmart, GA on January 27, 1933, a son of the late James Roy Robinson and the late Stella Wallace Robinson. Billy had lived all of his life in Rockmart where he was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, and he had a great love for God and his family. Billy was retired from General Motors and in his spare time he would find ways to make an extra dollar including selling watermelons.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, William Michael (Mike) Robinson; three brothers: Milton, Wallace, and James Robinson; and his sister, Dorothy Davis.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-nine years, Louise Robinson of Rockmart, to whom he was married on October 13, 1951; two daughters: Lynn Robinson, Cedartown and Susan Robinson, Rockmart; three sons: Tony Robinson and his wife, Jill, Aragon, Roy Robinson, Rockmart, and Bryon Robinson, Rockmart; nine grandchildren: Chad Shirley, Micah Shirley, Deneen Dumey, Chase Robinson, Toni Williams, Michael Williams, Victoria (Tori) Robinson, Morrisia Robinson, and Anne-Marie Robinson; six great-grandchildren: Caedyn Robinson, Gavyn Dingler, Sandler Robinson, Brelee Dumey, Analee Robinson, Georgia-Mae Robinson; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 30, 2020 at 3:00 PM in the New Prospect Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Purser officiating. Eulogies will be given by Tori Robinson, Anne-Marie Robinson, and Toni Williams. Interment will follow in the Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery with a prayer given by Chase Robinson and military graveside rites provided by Brown-Wright Post #12 American Legion Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will include: Parker Sanford, Michael Williams, Micah Shirley, Chase Robinson, Austin Dumey, Rodney Robinson, and Caedyn Robinson. Honorary pallbearers will include: Hal Strickland, Gene Johnson, Dan Forsyth, Gerald White, and Walter Gravely.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the funeral home. Social distancing guidelines will be followed and facial coverings are recommended.
