William Ray Hughes

Mr. William Ray Hughes, age 82, of Taylorsville, GA, passed away Monday, December 6, 2021.

Mr. Hughes was born in Rome, GA on December 7, 1938, a son of the late William Roy Hughes and the late Edna Busby Hughes. Ray had lived the greater part of his life in Rockmart where he was a member of Second Baptist Church and was a sixty-one year member of Rockmart Lodge #97 F&AM. He was an avid sports fan, collected quarters, and loved anything Charlie Brown. Ray loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jeff Hughes; and grandson, Adam Hughes.

Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-three years, Patsy Gribble Hughes, Taylorsville; two daughters: Tammy Beckom and her husband, David, Aragon and Christy Rutland and her husband Joseph, Taylorsville; daughter-in-law, Shannon Hughes, Miracle, KY; five grandchildren: Bailee Meadows (Dustin), Kristen Rutland, Haley Beckom (James), Seth Beckom and Jessica Blankenship; two great-grandchildren: Cindy Beckom and Cole Meadows; two sisters: Joyce Dabbs and her husband Jerry, Rockmart and Debbie Hughes, Rockmart; brother, Jimmy Hughes and his wife Patricia, Rockmart; nieces and nephews also survive.

In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Hughes will be cremated, and the family will receive friends at the residence, 244 Big Pond Road, Taylorsville, GA 30178 on Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
