Mrs. Wilma Harris Kay, age 91, of 1966 Woodrow Kay Road, Rockmart passed away Monday, October 27, 2008 following a lengthy illness.
She was born on February 8, 1917 a daughter of the late Charles Frank Harris and Clara Sproull Harris. Mrs. Kay had been a resident of the Beulah community of Paulding county since 1941. She was a homemaker, gardener, cook and faithful member of the Beulahland Baptist Church. Mrs. Kay was a former employee of the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation where she was employed from 1953 until her retirement in 1985.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Woodrow W. Kay on December 9, 2000 to whom she was married on June 24, 1936; by a granddaughter, Kimberly Kaye Jones in 1990 and by eleven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her four children: Mrs. Glenda Miller, Mrs. Sue Porter, Mr. Jimmy W. Kay and Mr. Franklin Kay all of the Beulah community; two sisters: Mrs. Leola Williams, Rockmart and Mrs. Pearl Reed, Loganville; seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 30, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Harris officiating and eulogies given by granddaughters Susan Williams and Christina Wallace. Interment will follow in the Taylorsville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include: Bobby Ray Reed, Mark Warren, Wendell Williams, David Craig, Billy Ray Green and Jason Johns. Joey Williams and Cody Green will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
